2021 Member of the Year Award Winner Stuart B. Allen

The Association of Trust Organizations (ATO) announced that Stuart B. Allen, Allen Trust Company, was awarded their 2021 Member of the Year Award. Allen successfully led ATO as its president through an extremely turbulent and difficult year for the entire country.

“Stuart’s done a magnificent job serving the organization,” said ATO Director Emeritus Tony Guthrie. “He has become everyone in this room’s friend. He’s become everyone in this room’s ally. Fortunately, he’s going to be on the board. But we’re going to miss his leadership as the president. There is nobody more appropriate to get his award than Stuart.”

Allen is president & CEO of Allen Trust Company and Allen Capital Management. Prior to founding Allen Trust Company and Allen Capital Management, Allen served in two of the largest national bank trust departments in Oregon. Allen guides the overall direction of the firm, is active in trust administration and helps shape the investment policy for the company.

“You don’t typically think about the people who volunteer their time, spend their energy and their efforts to help pivot during COVID for an organization you care deeply about,” said ATO President Bryant Jones. “Stuart volunteered to stay another year just to get us through this past year. It was a bad situation last year when it looked like ATO wasn’t going to have an event and there was no way out. His leadership was fantastic.”

The award was given at ATO’s 2021 Annual Meeting at the Ritz-Carlton in Amelia Island on September 19-21, 2021. Over 150 trust professionals from across the country gathered for industry meetings, education, training and networking.

The Member of the Year Award is presented to an outstanding member of ATO who has shown tremendous leadership and advancement of the industry’s initiatives throughout the past year.
